This is how I found love...
I was feeling a bit sorry for myself and I needed a hug. My boyfriend had cleared out of our flat leaving me with the washing up and the phone bill, and I suddenly found myself alone. My best friends, Kate and Jo had got fellas of their own and I felt like a spare part when we went out together - a real gooseberry.
It's tough because you think you're going to be with Mr Right forever. Then he goes, the house is empty, and our gang of friends we used to hang out with are either paired off or feel embarrassed about seeing us on our own. I didn't realise how big the flat was going to feel when I was on my own at night.
The really tricky thing is that your friends take pity on you and try and pair you off with their friends, their boyfriends friends, and any other spare part they know of who's not attached to somebody. When you find yourself on the dating scene again after a few years off it's hard to know where to start. At first I tried going clubbing, getting drunk in bars, pubs, and I even tried church groups, but that wasn't a good place to get drunk! That was a bit nerve racking but it went much better than I expected, and I didn't make a fool of myself for once! We've been dating for three months now and things are great!

Do not rush the first date or the pace of the relationship as you get to know your date better. Both men and women can feel painfully shy about meeting new people. Getting the nerve up to ask someone out can feel like an impossibility. It is much easier with online dating.
